How often should I train?

The typical CrossFit prescription for training is a 3 day on, 1 day off pattern. However, at CrossFit Costa del Sol we do not open Sundays, so this routine will break down every few weeks.

Clients with families normally like the weekend off, so Monday-Friday is another option: 5 days on, 2 days off. The routine I prefer is Mon, Tues, Wed on, Thurs off, Fri and Sat (morning) on and Sunday off:  3 on, 1 off, 2 on, 1 off. If you cannot fit this many days in, we believe that training at a CrossFit Box 2/3 times a week is more productive than training at a conventional gym 5 times a week.

I’ve heard CrossFit is really hard. Is this true?

CrossFit is as hard as you make it. We encourage people to push themselves to the limit of their own tolerances, but only you can make the most out of your own workouts by the amount of work you put into them.

My friend told me I could get injured doing CrossFit. Is this true?

You can injure yourself in any activity, but CrossFit is safer than many everyday activities. We like to work with people in 3 stages:

  1.  Mechanics - learning how to do the movements with the correct technique.
  2.  Consistency - the ability to do the movements over and over again with safe and efficient technique.
  3.  Intensity - the speed at which you do the movements.

One does not come before the other but we always start with the mechanics.

I’m on holiday. Can I just drop in and do a few classes?

Yes, but we ask you to call first to make sure the class is not full. On your first visit, please arrive 15 minutes early to fill in the paperwork.
